Catching Up Part I: Bubbie's Third Birthday Party

Well here they are, one week late and in no particular order, pictures of Bubbie's Third Birthday Party!! We had the party at a local Fire Station and I believe everyone had a blast!! I know one birthday boy in particular that really enjoyed himself!

No matter how old he gets, he will always be my baby!

I just can't see it, he looks nothing like his Father*said in a sarcastic tone*.

Photo of all the party goers, with a few exceptions. Some of the Parents didn't want to be in the picture. (From L to R) Uncle J, Boo and I, A(a friend from our SAHM's group), Daddy and Bubbie, Cousins M, Al, K, Ap and G.

Bubbie is proud of his Train Table from Granddad. I assembled it, all by myself, the very next day.

Checking out his new favorite book about trucks. Bubbie LOVES books!!

His train set from Mommy and Daddy.

Bubbie calls these his Fire Truck Shoes, hilarious!

Mr. Potato Head firefighter set and finger paints from Aunt MP. I'm not too sure about those finger paints. I keep telling him he can play with them soon.

Enjoying his yummy banana cake with vanilla creme filling, DELICIOUS!!

Cake from Cheri's Bakery of course and I think they did an awesome job, as they always do!

Birthday boy, getting ready to blow out the candles. He ended up getting some help from his cousins on that task, being that he decided he didn't want to.

Checking out the inside of a Fire Truck.

Cousins G and M.

Bubbie with his Aunt Misty.

The photos above was an attempt to get Bubbie intersted in trying on the Firefighter gear. He wanted nothing to do with it. To his defense, it did smell quite smokey.

Uncle Rob and cousins K and M.

Bubbie really LOVES his Grandma!

Its hard to see, but we bought Bubbie a t-shirt with a Fire Truck on it and it says, "This is how I roll." It is Bubbie's favorite shirt, he wants to wear it everyday!

Life Must Go On

Well, what a weekend we had. It was full of so many emotions, sad, happy and excitement. This last Friday we had a funeral to attend for our one month old niece, Faith. She had passed on Tuesday from SIDS. Because of that, our weekend had started off on a melancholy mood. I don't know what its like to lose a Parent or Child, but I think that is one of the hardest deaths we, as a family, have experienced. I can't think of anything worse for a Parent to go through.

On Saturday we did the Annual Kansas Firefighters Parade. The kids LOVED it!! As part of the Parade, the Firefighter's Museum was handing out free Hot Dogs and we of course took part in that. After fully admiring the fire trucks, Bubbie and Boo insisted on playing at the park they have right behind the Museum. Once they tired of the slides and running around, they insisted on swinging. I was amazed at how much they wanted to play outside, considering how cold it was! The high on Saturday was 40, but with the wind it felt more like the mid 30s, it was BRRRR cold!! Saturday night, Daddy and I attended a chili cook off that a friend had to celebrate his birthday. That was a good way for Daddy and I let off some stress and the kids love their babysitter! They love playing with her and she does a great job, I especially love how she finds the time to pick up our house. Our house seems to only be cleaned when she comes, as sad as that sounds.

Finally, on Sunday we had a birthday party to attend at Chuck E Cheese. We weren't sure how that experience was going to be, being that we had never been before. The kids had a bit of a rough start, especially Boo, but they ended up having a blast! They espcecially loved to ride the car rides together. I don't know what my kids would do without each other, they sure seem to love playing with one another despite how much they fight.

As I said this weekend was a dizzying array of so many emotions, but at least we were able to end it on happy emotions. A friend sent me a poem on my FB and I am posting it as my parting words.

Her Journey's Just Begun
Ellen Brennaman

Don't think of her as gone away,
Her journey's just begun.
Life holds so many facets,
This earth is only one.
Just think of her as resting
from the sorrows and the tears,
In a place of warmth and comfort
Where there are no days and years.
Think how she must be wishing
That we could know today,
How nothing but our sadness
Can really pass away.
And think of her as living
In the hearts of those she touched,
For nothing loved is ever lost
And she was loved so much.
The Broken Chain

We little knew that morning that
God was going to call your name.
In life we loved you dearly
In death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you,
you did not go alone;
for part of us went with you,
the day God called you home.
You left us peaceful memories,
your love is still our guide,
and though we cannot see you,
you are always at our side.
Our family chain is broken
and nothing seems the same,
but as God calls us one by one,
the chain will link again

The Annual Kansas Firefighters Museum Parade and Memorial Ceremony

If you know Bubbie well, then you know how much he loves Fire Trucks and anything Fireman related. He loves them so much, that when we are out and they go by, he has to wave to them. So of course today we had to go to the The Annual Kansas Firefighters Museum Parade and Memorial Ceremony. It was a nice event to participate in after the sadness of Friday, more on that later.

We chose to watch the parade from the warmth of our car since the high for today was 40 and windy. Here are the kids getting excited!

Once the parade went by, Bubbie was upset because there were no more Fire Trucks. He kept saying, "More Fire Trucks!" We decided to go visit the trucks and take some photos with them.

Daddy's shot with the kids

And Mommy's shot, of course. I chose this truck because it came from Derby, it had some sentimental representation to us.

Being Pestered or Being the Pesterer?

Fall has come this week, with a vengeance! It went from upper 70s and 80s to low 60s and even as low as 40 in the evenings, just over the weekend. My kiddos though, don't care what the weather is doing. They LOVE to be OUTSIDE!!

This cooler weather has definitely shown us how not ready we are for this weather. It was exactly what I didn't want to happen, to be caught off guard. I tried to plan ahead. Anyway, now Daddy and I will have to get Boo some play shoes for outside. The poor kid had to play in her socks because we hadn't bought any sneakers for her yet. Which I also now know that Boo is in need of new socks since her feet grew so much over the Summer. Boo also outgrew her sweat pants over the Summer. So you can begin to see me making a list of all the glorious things we have to buy, including pajamas! My poor kids only have Summer PJs. They just grow too fast, its so hard to keep up! Of course it doesn't help either that the weather changes over night, literally!

All bundled up!

This is the look he gave me when I told him we had to go inside because it was starting to rain, priceless!!

Boo with her muddy socks!

I had started taking this video to show how focused Boo was on watching The Fresh Beats, but by the time I figured out the video on the new camera, she was more into pestering her big brother. This is quite hilarious! So I pose the question, who is being pestered and who is the pesterer?
