A Weekend to be Thankful For

I know, its been a long while since I've last blogged. To be honest, there hasn't been much to blog about in the last few weeks. As I may have mentioned before, we have been working on the floors in our Kitchen and front hallway and it has consumed our days. Mainly because not having a dishwasher, hand washing dishes takes a lot of time!

Anyway, more on that later. We are here to talk about our Thanksgiving weekend! It all started for us on Wednesday. It felt like an eternity just to get out of town! We had so many errands to take care of before we could head out to Grandma's and Grandpa's house, as Bubbie calls it. On Thursday, we lounged, Mom cooked with Aunt A and Uncle T's help and watched movies. When it was time for dinner, we were joined by my Aunt V and her family. Afterwards, Bubbie enjoyed playing outside with his second cousin, PJ. They explored the Great Outdoors, that is my Parent's yard that is vast and wooded in the country. Also after being good Americans(That is a joke between us because the average American consumes 4,000 calories at Thanksgiving dinner. We decided to follow that tradition, LOL!), stuffing our tummies, we all settled in for the evening and watched another Christmas related movie.

Friday, we had an unexpected stop to make to get new brakes on our Mini-van. We also participated in a little bit of Black Friday sales. I went to JC Penneys and actually ended up ordering a new Pea Coat and I can't wait until it gets here!! We finished the day by going and watching Santa get rescued downtown by the Firefighters. Though I think Bubbie was more interested in the Fire Truck than in Santa. After Santa was rescued, we found a man that was making balloon animals and anything else you could think of. One girl even got a guitar!! Bubbie was so excited about his balloon noise maker that he received, he was all smiles. Bubbie and Boo also enjoyed a couple spins on a little carousel ride.

Boo was getting impatient while waiting to see Santa.

After Santa was rescued, they turned on all the Christmas lights!

On Saturday, we went to the Bizarre Bazaar. It has become a tradition for our family to attend, especially since my Dad performs there every year! I also bought a pair of earrings for $8, they are absolutely beautiful!! Then Saturday night, Bubbie and Boo had some real quality time with Grandma and Grandpa while Daddy and I went to hang out with my Cousins and their spouses as well as my Sister and her Husband. It was nice to have an evening away from the kids and I think they enjoyed it too! When we arrived back at the house, both kids were passed out.

We wrapped it all up Sunday with getting breakfast and packing up the car and driving home with all the other Holiday travelers! It was an eventful Thanksgiving weekend had by all. We are also thankful to be home to put up our feet and give the animals some much needed attention. When we arrived home, they all greeted us at the door and couldn't wait to jump in our laps!

First Trick or Treat

Halloween was a busy day for us. We started with taking some photos of the kiddos in their Halloween shirts. Boo's bow is one that I made for her and she actually ended up losing it in Target a few hours later. Thankfully I made two of them and I also was able to find more material at the fabric store. I think I'm more upset about it because no one said anything or turned it in to Customer Service. I'm always disappointed by the lack of morality in some people. Anyway, we enjoyed our Halloween despite its setbacks.

It was hard to get the kids to sit still for pictures, but I finally bribed Bubbie with a piece of chocolate to get him to cooperate. Sometimes its just about what works, right? It sure made him smile!

Later that evening we handed out some candy to Trick or Treaters and then we set off to do some Trick or Treating ourselves. This was Boo's first Trick or Treat and Bubbie's second!! I think they really enjoyed their trick or treat, Bubbie was really good about saying "trick or treat" and "thank you." I think because he said thank you he ended up getting more candy than Boo. Though everyone loved his costume too and they said Boo was adorable!

We actually enjoyed trick or treating in our neighborhood. We were able to talk to our neighbors and meet some that we haven't met before. We also were able to meet our new neighbor that moved in just down the street and they have a girl that is just a little older than Boo. Just some of the positives of trick or treating close to home, plus we saved the gas by footing it all night. I definitely felt that I had my exercise by the end!

The kids going down the driveway, they were ready and rearing to go!!

This house had a nice sign that said "Please take one." We thought that there would be nothing left, but surprisingly people were being very nice about the candy.

About halfway through our trick or treat, Boo was tired of walking. Maybe she needed some more sugar!

After we returned from our trick or treat, Uncle Jeff was waiting at the house and we had him take our family photo.

(This site is turning my photos, I had it going horizontal, but now its vertical. Any ideas why its doing that?) This is the special cake we made for Halloween and when we returned from trick or treat, we treated ourselves to some. Afterwards, the kids setteled down to bed without argument(which never happens) and we played a game of scrabble with Uncle Jeff. It was a fun day had by all!
