A Little Catching Up!

Ok, so I know I haven't been keeping up with the blog like I used to. It just seems these days so difficult to keep up! With Bubbie in speech therapy twice a week and Boo becoming a very active toddler(whom gets in to EVERYTHING), it certainly has left me with less time to play on the computer. So I will do a little catching up since my last post of last week.

Last week, we celebrated my Birthday, just the four of us and cake of course! It was nice just to do a little family togetherness on my Birthday. We also did a lot of playing out in the wading pool, since it is so hot. July here is just miserable! Any time we can get a break from the heat is welcomed, but usually only lasts for a day.

Bubbie has been doing very well in his speech therapy, in fact Miss Molly has just raved about how impressed she is with his progress! This weekend we were at my Parent's house and we asked Bubbie if he was hungry and he replied, "No, I'm good." Completely took me by surprise and it was so adorable! He just astonishes me, how quickly he is taking to talking. I also asked Miss Molly if she knew of any tricks to get Bubbie to make poopy in the potty, she said she would look into it, LOL!

Speaking of potty training, despite Bubbie doing really well with going pee in the potty, he will never poo in the potty. He absolutely refuses. I have tried every trick that other parents have given me and none of them have worked. So for now he is back in diapers and I am going to let him take the initiative on letting me know when he is ready. After a couple of months of cleaning poopy unders, I'm done! If it wasn't for that, then he would be completely potty trained.

Above I mentioned going to my Parent's house for the weekend and we had a great time! We drove up on Friday, after stopping by the Donut Whole first(hehe!). Saturday, we left the kiddos with the Grandparents and headed for Kansas City to meet up with my Cousins. It was nice to spend the day having adult conversation and have a little break from the kids. I think the Grandparents also enjoyed spending time with Bubbie and Boo! We also put in a visit with my Grandma, she is currently in a home because she managed to crack her knee cap and she can't go home until it heals. She really seemed to also enjoy a visit from her Great Grandkids!

Well, that is the gist of things that have happened in the last week. Hope its not too overwhelming! I also decided to share some random photos that I've meant to post, but haven't until now, enjoy!!

Great Grandma BH, Grandpa H, Daddy, Bubbie and Boo. Three generations worth, it would be four if I were in the picture.

He is driving away!

Happy Birthday to Me, Weekend!(Technically not until Monday)

Taken on June 6, I've posted this photo of my beautiful Niece, her lovely Mother(my sister) and I for a comparison, so you can see the difference in the next photo. I actually hadn't noticed much difference in my appearance other than dropping almost 3 sizes in pants. Can you tell a difference?

This photo taken today, July 18 for a friend that asked me to post a recent photo of myself. She was curious how I looked at 20lbs lighter! That's right, I've lost 20lbs in just a month and a half! Just in case anyone wants to know how I've done it, I will share. If not, you can check out the photos of the yummy Birthday Cake that the Hubby bought for me!

We bought a stationary bike and I work out on it daily for 40-50mins. I also do some toning with my 10lb weights everyday. I work my biceps, triceps and chest and finish it up with 60-80 lower stomach crunches. I also have switched to an all natural diet of plain yogurt, granola, cottage cheese, applesauce(no sugar added) and for breakfast everyday, I start with a fruit smoothie with tofu mixed in. The smoothie I make consists of

1 1/4 cup calcium fortified orange juice
1 banana
1 cup frozen blueberries, blackberries and/or raspberries
1/2 cup silken tofu
2-3 ice cubes

Makes 3 servings

Make into liquid in blender and enjoy! The kids absolutely LOVE it and they drool over it with anticipation while I make it, LOL! Usually for dinner, we make a recipe from the YOU: On a Diet book. I also sometimes snack on a salad with kalamata olives, feta cheese, spring mix salad and homemade red wine vinegrette. I've also been sticking to a serving size of a fist size proportion and then drinking water to feel full, it works awesome!! I truly can't believe that this has worked so well, I am now currently at 16olbs and my goal is around 130lbs or I say a size 6 would be nice!

This is the Chocolate Ganache cake that Daddy bought for my Birthday(though technically its not until Monday)from Cheri's Bakery! We LOVE their cakes. Careful not to lick your screen as it looks absolutely scrumptious! Believe me, it tastes just as good as it looks!!

A Little Brag About Bubbie

I am so PROUD of Bubbie for the great job he did yesterday in Speech Therapy(ST). Let me start off by giving some detail on what ST is all about. Bubbie goes every Tuesday and Thursday for a 25 minute session with Miss Molly at Heartsprings. They usually spend a couple of minutes just playing and showing him signs in play, so he learns to ask for toys, such as ball. Then they sit at a table and look at cards that have either an animal or some object on them and she tries to get him to say what it is. Miss Molly also likes to start with getting him to imitate her movements as a way to improve his motor skills. Though honestly, I never thought his motor skills were an issue, but I think its also a way of getting Bubbie comfortable and build confidence.

Yesterday when they started the usual routine, Bubbie asked to look at the cards with the words and she obliged. Miss Molly pulled out the cards with animals and had Bubbie imitate the sounds and he repeated every sound!! That was a first! Usually he just looks at Miss Molly and then tries to distract her from the task at hand or anything so as not to do what is asked. Bubbie is very stubborn, I think he gets it from his Father, hehe. Anyway, he repeated and imitated everything that was asked of him yesterday and you could just see him fill up with glee as he was sung his praises from Miss Molly. Partly, Bubbie is so shy that it takes him some time to warm up to people and I think he finally has warmed up to Miss Molly. I asked him if he liked her yesterday and he said, "Yea!"

Later that day, we had to pick Daddy up from work and I told Daddy all about what a great job Bubbie did at ST. We decided that because he did so well, he had earned a treat, so we picked up some Klondike bars from the grocery store and let him have one. Talk about a mess!! Totally worth it though to see how proud Bubbie was of himself!

July 4, 2009

I hope everyone had a wonderful Fourth of July!! We sure did! We spent most of our day relaxing about the house and watching Scrubs reruns that we DVR'd(best show ever!). Daddy also Bar-B-Qued some chicken and turkey dogs for lunch/dinner. Bubbie liked the turkey dogs so much, that he ate five of them! I can't remember the last time he ate so much.

After a day of relaxing and eating(I also made dark chocolate brownies with chocolate chips)we got ready to go to the Fireworks show at Beech Lake. This is the spot we have been going to for the last four years now and we always enjoy the show! I was just thinking tonight, that the first time we went there for the Fourth, was when I was 7 mths pregnant with Bubbie. The second year we went, we had just Bubbie and the third year we had both Bubbie and Boo. Its amazing how quickly things change!

Below are a few photos of before we left for the show. Daddy's friend Jeff also came with us to the show. Being that he doesn't have any family of his own, I think, he really enjoys spending the Holidays with the kiddos!

I can't believe that Bubbie agreed to pose for a photo for me and all I had to do was ask nicely!

The two of them goofing around, afterall, that is what childhood is about!

One with Mommy of course!

And one with Daddy, aww!!

The whole family of four, waiting for the show to start. We had brownies and cheese popcorn to snack on.

One good photo of the fireworks!

It took a bit to notice where the cat was hiding, but I had to get a picture because this cat is seriously not scared of anything. Except for fireworks it seems. For those who don't know, my cat Pumpkin is generally an outdoor kitty, but not tonight!

Below are a couple of videos. The first is a little snippet of the fireworks show at Beech Lake and the second video is of the kids throwing some poppers. It was a fun day had by all!!
