Potty Training: Second Time Around

WARNING:
This Post contains talk about poop.  You've been warned!

Boo LOVES Tinkerbell!  Anything Tinkerbell.  She is also a fan of the Disney Princesses, but Tinkerbell definitely ranks first.  Boo decided that she was ready for Potty Training(PT), for two days she refused to poop in her diaper.  The poor kid was hurting so badly from holding her poo, that I felt so sorry for her.  I had wished that I could do anything to help her!  Finally I decided to buy a little potty for her.  After about an hour of coaxing, she had her first poop on the little potty!!  As a reward, I took her to Target and bought her a Tinkerbell nightgown.  She thinks the nightgown is the best EVER!!  Funny enough though for the last 3 days now, she had insisted on using the big potty instead of the little one.  I encourage her to do what she pleases, so long as she continues to PT.

Its amazing really at how well Boo has taken to PT.  Certainly more willing than her Brother ever was!  Though I was also pretty lucky with Bubbie, he also PT fairly easily overall.  Honestly though I thought this would be easier the second time around, but I was WRONG!  It's still just as frustrating as it was the first time around, but I am loving the fact that we are DONE with DIAPERS!!  Is there anything better than that?!  Given Boo does have to wear a Pull-Up during the night, but still cheaper than buying diapers every week!

Boo started PT last Thursday evening, since we started she has had only a couple of accidents.  Once in the car when she fell asleep in the car(to be expected), the other two were during naptime(also to be expected).  Overall though she is doing exceptionally well!!  Today though was not one of her best, so hopefully tomorrow she will find her motivation again.  I love though how she feels the need to go potty every couple of minutes, even without us even being in the bathroom!  Boo seems like such a natural and let us hope that this continues.

Another Year and Another Birthday

Today(Tuesday, sorry didn't notice the time)marks another year passed and another year older.  It's the day I celebrate my 28th birthday.  It's amazing how quickly it seems that these birthdays just keep sneaking up on me.  It reminds me of how much I've been told to treasure and enjoy life because it goes by quickly.  I would laugh it off as a naive young(err younger)woman, but only now I am starting to understand.  I find a lot of things I used to laugh at in the past, have proven to be true.  Guess that is how life works, after all we have to live to become wise and those are wise words indeed.  So here is to another year passed and to another year wiser!

For my birthday, we decided to go to my favorite bakery after Bubbie's Speech Therapy.  Cake from Cheri's Bakery is worth driving across town for!  Truth be told, I chose the cake because it was pretty.  Wouldn't have mattered what flavor it was.  This one was a vanilla cake with vanilla creme filling!  Normally I am a chocolate person all the way, but this cake was delicious!!  While I picked out my cake, we let Bubbie and Boo each pick a cookie.  They were very delighted and devoured their cookies in seconds!

Bubbie admiring Mommy's cake.  Though according to him, it would taste better with Pirates on it.;)

Once we enjoyed cake, it was time for Daddy to go to work.  I believe I owe an explanation on this.  Daddy's job has temporarily moved him to Second Shift while they are training some new guy(actually a bump in)on First Shift, on the job that Daddy does.  We are not a happy family at the current time.  With this shift, it has thrown off everything.  The kids have started having more tantrums and just plain wanting more attention.  They miss Daddy at bed time.  It has been rough on all of us.  We do the best we can and try to make the most of the time we get to spend with Daddy, but he is definitely missed by Bubbie and Boo.  We just have to make it, at most, a couple of months and then we will have to adjust to Daddy being back on First Shift.  I can't wait until then!  As I like to say most recently, a day LIVED is a day SURVIVED!!

What We Won't Do for Our Kids

It's official!  We have become like many Parent's in that we now have a child obsessed with TOY STORY.  Bubbie wants to wear nothing but his Toy Story t-shirts, so of course we had to buy him a couple tees because he can't wear the same shirt EVERYDAY.  Bubbie's Grandma bought him his first TS3 tee and ever since he has been hooked!  Well yesterday Daddy and I made the mistake of promising him a stuffed Buzz Lightyear if he behaved during dinner and ate.  Bubbie was so excited that he cleaned his plate!!  And we didn't have one tantrum during dinner.  Honestly I can't remember how long it's been since we had a nice enjoyable dinner without Bubbie being upset about having to eat!  Well as you know we had to keep our promise, though admittedly I didn't think Bubbie would pull it off.  We arrived at one Target to get a stuffed Buzz, only to find that they were sold out.  Being that it was close to closing time, we rushed to another Target.  Again sold out.  At this point I asked if Bubbie would like the stuffed Woody, his answer, "NO, I want Buzz Lightyear!"  So I took him to the toy aisle, but he didn't want a Buzz Lightyear toy either.  So the search continued.

Finally we found ourselves at a Wal-Mart.  Yea, that's right.  The dreaded Wally World.  When one is desperate, what choice do you have?  After all, the last thing I wanted was to tell my Son that everyone was sold out and see his sad, disappointed face.  Especially when I knew, thanks to Wal-Mart commercials taking over my TV, that they had a large stock of stuffed Buzz Lightyears.  Sure enough, they had stuffed Buzz Lightyears, but Bubbie decided that he wanted a different Buzz instead, shown below in the picture.  By the way, Buzz slept in Bubbie's bed last night.  Problem was that Buzz kept flying in the air, so it was difficult for Bubbie to sleep.  Finally they both became very worn out.

After almost two hours of driving around town and ending up on the West Side of town, it begs the question, "What we won't do for our kids?"

Also this last week, we were getting some groceries at, you probably guessed it, Target.  I decided to walk by the kid's clothing section where I spotted the new stock of Genuine Kids clothing.  I really had no intentions of buying clothes for the kids, but when I saw an outfit for Boo, it was just too cute to pass up!  After I was doing so good about not buying so many clothes for the kids too!  I love leggings, so it's really hard to pass up the opportunity to buy them for Boo as well.  Sadly I liked her new leggings so MUCH, that I went back and bought a second pair in a different color/pattern.  The addiction is starting again!

Wearing her new top that I bought.  With cute hairbows too!!

Adorable!!

Showing off his Toy Story t-shirt from Grandma

Now to share some cute animal pictures.

SMILE Pumpkin!!

Look at me, I'm the keeper of the animals!

Also today, Sunday, Daddy and I celebrate seven years of marriage!  It's amazing that it's been seven years already!  We've accomplished a lot in seven years and had our up's and more than our share of down's.  Somehow we seem to come through everything stronger!  So here is to another year and hopefully it will be full of more up's!!

Fourth of July 2010

Hope everyone had a Happy Fourth of July!! Here are a few photos of the show we went to before we became the show.

Of course we have to do a family photo, we do one every year! Sadly all I can think is what a big head I have. Oh well, it's for the kids!

Bubbie and Boo getting cozy for the fireworks show.

Beech Lake. Better to get a photo of it now because who knows what it will look like a year from now! Beech Lake has been sold, but thankfully HBC allowed one last Fireworks Show.

Daddy, Bubbie and Boo throwing poppers. I also have video which I'll add later.

A couple of the few shots that I snapped. I also took video, but both turned out to be very blurry so they aren't any good for sharing. Unfortunately we didn't get to watch the whole show. As some already know, it was not long after snapping these photos that Daddy had another seizure. At that point with the emergency vehicles and everything we became the show.

Thankfully there was a family next to us that were very helpful! The Mom was a First Responder for Cessna and she helped with answering the questions with the 911 dispatcher. She also along with her Husband had to get Aaron out from under the car, he had managed to work himself under it while seizing. Their kids were also helpful in flagging down the Emergency Vehicles and guiding them in to us. We are so very thankful that this family was there and were so helpful! So after all the excitement, we ended up at the the Hospital, but not for the reasons that one would think on the night of the Fourth. Which amazingly the ER was empty at the busiest Hospital in town! Not what I would've expected.

Special just for the Fourth of July, I made a chocolate bundt cake. We also had strawberries in the fridge already cut for a fruit salad that we made for the night before, so I thought "What goes better with chocolate than strawberries?" The plan was to eat the cake after our Fireworks Show, but as you probably guessed, that didn't happen. So this morning, we ate it for breakfast! Breakfast of champions don't you know! This will definitely be a Fourth of July that we will never forget.

Trip to Cowtown and an Evening of Fireworks

Saturday we went to Old Cowtown Museum with Grandma E, Aunt M, Aunt MM and cousins. Despite the wet and dreary day, it was a fun visit! Though some may dispute that. The kids had fun and that is what's really important! And I enjoyed the sarsaparilla, something that I LOVED as a kid!

Walking into the Museum, which is setup like a town and all outdoors. I love Cowtown because it really is like living History. You walk through the buildings and it's like stepping back into time, the time of late 1800's. I just love stuff like this!! I know, I'm such a nerd! Most of all, I love sharing this experience with my kids. Even if they never understand or appreciate it.

The Gypsies made an appearance for our visit this day! I was so excited to see them and watch them dance! The kids didn't really notice, they were more interested in spending time with each other.

Taking a look inside the School House.

Bubbie liked how the seat flipped up.

Cousin A thought she would try out some stilts.

The covered wagon, that we later took a ride on.

The Train Station

Hotel Room fit for a lady.

Hotel Room fit for a Gentleman.

I'm thinking this was what they bathed in or maybe did their laundry.

Check in for the Hotel. In the next room was a game room, where the men gambled.

Also in the reception of the Hotel.

Taking a ride on the wagon. Please excuse my hair, it was a rainy day so the hair felt like curling up.

Bubbie with his Aunt MM.

Here is the Marshal's Headquarters. You know the local Law Enforcement.

Apparently the Marshal kept a safe, but I'm not sure what for.

Marching for prohibition of Rum.

And those who wanted to keep their Rum marching behind.

Now of course when you go to a Museum on Fourth of July weekend, you just have to get your face painted. Amazingly despite the rain, the face paintings did not fade! Bubbie though refused to get his face painted, but Boo was receptive to the idea as long as she could sit on Mommy's lap.

Cousin G got a Monster Truck.

Boo got a rose on her face, but she wasn't cooperative on allowing Mommy to take a picture. Can you see it?

Cousin A also got a rose and a butterfly.

After we were exhausted from walking around Cowtown and soaking wet, we decided it was time to go home. The kids fell asleep in the car after about 5 minutes. We arrived home and put the kids down for naps. When they awoke, we all changed clothes because it was quite cool Saturday evening and we had a BBQ to attend with some friends.

At this BBQ is was Fireworks palooza!! I've never seen so many littering the street in my entire life! Absolutely crazy! Once it became dark out, they put on their very own Fireworks show! Yes you got that right, their very own. Right in the middle of a neighborhood! Honestly though, the best fireworks show I've ever seen in my life!! Thank you to our friends for inviting us! Of course we got home very late and the kids passed out in no time. It was a very fun and eventful day.
